Description:
Northwell Health is seeking a Supervisor of Operations to oversee and coordinate the daily activities and administrative functions of designated practice(s) within a Department, Division, or Service Line. This position is designed for a detail-oriented leader who can manage both people and processes while ensuring compliance with healthcare standards and optimizing patient experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, train, and motivate staff to meet departmental goals while fostering a positive work environment.
  • Supervise all business functions including scheduling, patient registration, insurance verification, referrals, co-pay collection, charge entry, and related administrative processes.
  • Review operational performance reports, tracking key metrics such as patient arrivals, cancellations, no-shows, cycle times, and appointment lag.
  • Manage supply inventory and ensure adequate resources are available for daily operations.
  • Oversee budgetary activities, monitor financial variances, and ensure compliance with cash-handling procedures, denial management, and insurance verification standards.
  • Hire, supervise, evaluate, and manage non-clinical staff while identifying skill gaps and ensuring optimal staffing coverage for practice sites.
  • Administer workforce management including scheduling, vacation, holidays, and medical leave coverage.
  • Promote staff learning, development, and engagement to support long-term retention and satisfaction.
  • Ensure effective communication between staff, physicians, and hospital departments while reinforcing the mission, vision, and values of Northwell Health.
  • Maintain a patient-first culture, emphasizing quality, safety, and operational efficiency throughout the care process.
  • Implement and monitor quality improvement initiatives aligned with hospital standards and regulatory agencies, including The Joint Commission, Department of Health, and other governing bodies.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, billing, coding, and documentation standards, while executing disaster recovery plans when necessary.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required, maintaining flexibility to adapt to evolving operational needs.

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s Degree required; equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.
  • 4–6 years of professional experience in healthcare operations or related fields.
  • 0–2 years of supervisory or management experience required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with proven ability to engage at all organizational levels.
  • Previous experience in an Ambulatory Physician Practice environment is highly preferred.
  • Administrative background strongly desired.
  • Flexibility to travel to multiple practice sites is preferred.

Additional Salary Information:
Compensation will be based on a fair evaluation of factors including location, specialty, years of experience, education, and internal equity. Salary range and hourly rate are determined in good faith and may be subject to future adjustments.
