Description:
The Senior Auditor/Analyst at the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) works under the direction of the Executive Deputy Inspector General for Audit (EDIG/Audit) to support multiple audit projects, providing both analytical and operational expertise. This position involves evaluating agency performance, reviewing internal controls, analyzing data, and contributing to audit reports. The role requires a keen eye for detail, strong analytical and critical thinking skills, and the ability to collaborate with diverse teams while managing multiple projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess agency or program performance using qualitative and quantitative methods to identify standards, problems, causes, and corrective options.
  • Review processes, procedures, and internal controls to detect risks, fraud, waste, or abuse of resources.
  • Work collaboratively to identify issues, develop evaluation plans, and prioritize findings.
  • Conduct interviews with agency personnel, documenting findings in clear, concise memoranda.
  • Contribute content for official audit reports summarizing evaluation results.
  • Ensure projects meet deadlines and established milestones.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships while developing expertise in evolving MTA operations.
  • Analyze data with appropriate software tools to identify risks and trends.
  • Support investigative cases through data analysis or as a member of investigative teams, as assigned.
  • Perform additional duties as required by the EDIG/Audit or designee.

Qualifications / Relevant Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; Master’s degree is an advantage.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in auditing, evaluation, oversight, data analysis, or project management.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and research skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; experience conducting interviews is a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, with advanced Excel skills preferred.
  • Ability to interpret and analyze large volumes of complex data accurately.
  • Capable of managing multiple projects with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with agency staff and senior management.
  • Ability to travel within the MTA jurisdiction and work outside regular hours when required.
