Description:
Whole Foods Market is looking for a Financial Auditor to play a vital role in safeguarding financial accuracy and integrity. This position offers the opportunity to analyze sales and cash flow, identify discrepancies, and make recommendations that enhance financial operations. As part of the accounting team, you will contribute directly to the accuracy of reporting, the efficiency of cash tracking systems, and the overall financial health of the business. This role is currently based in Austin, TX, with a 5-day in-office schedule, and relocation assistance is available.

What You’ll Do:

  • Audit daily Point of Sale (POS) transactions on an exception basis using audit tools.
  • Reconcile sales data between the audit system and general ledger each period.
  • Research sales trends, investigate cash flow discrepancies, and resolve issues.
  • Troubleshoot accounting flow in automated processes and identify process improvements.
  • Maintain daily accounting activities such as reconciliations, journal entries, and documentation.
  • Collaborate with business partners to ensure alignment on accounting policies, procedures, and system updates.
  • Participate in month-end close activities, including account reconciliations and balance sheet reviews.
  • Assist retail teams in identifying causes for cash overages or shortages.
  • Partner with store leaders to validate compliance with financial policies and procedures.
  • Work closely with the Banking team to investigate settlement discrepancies with cash and gift cards.
  • Collaborate with Accounts Receivable for reconciliation of customer accounts, credit card transactions, and manufacturer coupon activity.
  • Support finance management with projects, variance analysis, and ad-hoc financial tasks.
  • Provide accurate, structured communication and clear reporting to internal stakeholders.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting principles.
  • In-depth knowledge of retail sales flow, cash handling, and settlement processes.
  • Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational and process-driven skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
  • Flexibility, resilience, and problem-solving skills with a collaborative mindset.
  • Ability to independently research issues, gather data, and verify compliance with standards.
  • Strong initiative, goal orientation, and drive for excellence.
