Description:
Rawlings Sporting Goods is currently hiring a Shipping Assistant at its Adirondack Bat Manufacturing Plant in Dolgeville, NY. This role plays a key part in maintaining the safety, quality, and flow of shipping and receiving operations for one of the most respected brands in sports equipment. The Shipping Assistant will work in a clean, climate-controlled warehouse and distribution environment, ensuring products are processed, shipped, and handled with the highest level of precision and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate material handling equipment, such as forklifts and pallet jacks, while adhering to all safety protocols
- Load and unload delivery trucks and transfer materials within the facility
- Maintain organized storage of materials and inventory across designated areas
- Accurately pull customer orders based on pick slips, including weight and carton count calculations
- Coordinate with Supervisors regarding international orders and national account picks
- Handle all shipping logistics including labeling, packaging, and documentation
- Process shipments using various carriers including FedEx, UPS, and other large freight providers
- Maintain and troubleshoot UCC 128 printers and manage supply levels like wax ribbons and shipping labels
- Manage documentation for international shipments and special order handling
- Conduct inventory-related tasks including receiving, packaging, reclassification, and regular cycle counts
- Monitor raw material levels and maintain adequate stock at production points
- Communicate regularly via email with internal stakeholders and external vendors
Required Skills and Abilities:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least 2 years of hands-on warehouse/distribution experience
- Experience using E1 (Enterprise One) software preferred
- Familiarity with shipping software, label printing, and order tracking systems
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational capabilities
- Comfortable working independently and in a team environment
- Capable of multitasking in fast-paced, high-pressure situations
- Skilled in basic math, fractions, and decimals for measurement reading
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and general office equipment
Working Conditions:
- Indoor and outdoor work required throughout the year in varying temperatures
- Potential exposure to dust, noise, solvents, and airborne fibers
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, and steel toe boots may be required depending on tasks
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform tasks involving standing, walking, reaching, and manual handling
Language and Math Proficiency:
- Ability to read and interpret shipping and product specifications
- Comfortable applying basic math and measurement skills
- Must demonstrate clear reasoning and problem-solving abilities
