The LevelTen Platform is the world’s largest online marketplace connecting renewable energy buyers, sellers, advisors, asset owners, and financiers, empowering them to execute transactions efficiently and confidently.
The company is currently seeking a Senior Revenue Accountant to play a hands-on and highly impactful role within its finance organization. This position is responsible for owning revenue accounting for a SaaS and software-driven business, ensuring revenue is recognized accurately and in full compliance with ASC 606. The role focuses heavily on software subscriptions, usage-based arrangements, non-standard customer contracts, and transaction fee agreements. You will work closely with Sales, Legal, Deal Desk, and Finance teams while helping scale revenue processes, systems, and internal controls in a high-growth technology environment.
This is an individual contributor role requiring strong technical judgment, precision, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and evolving business.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning revenue accounting for SaaS and software contracts under ASC 606, including subscriptions, usage-based fees, implementation services, and contract modifications
- Managing revenue accounting for transaction fee contracts and newly developed revenue streams
- Performing in-depth contract reviews to identify performance obligations, determine transaction pricing, evaluate variable consideration, and allocate revenue appropriately
- Preparing and reviewing revenue-related journal entries, reconciliations, and monthly close analyses
- Reviewing annual standalone selling price (SSP) calculations generated through software tools
- Evaluating and documenting non-standard and judgment-intensive contracts to ensure consistent revenue recognition
- Preparing technical accounting memos and maintaining revenue recognition policies
- Monitoring contract milestones and coordinating accurate invoicing with Billing and Sales Operations teams
- Supporting and improving the order-to-cash process, including controls, documentation, and scalability
- Acting as a key partner on revenue-related system implementations and enhancements such as CRM, quoting, and revenue recognition tools
- Supporting external audits by preparing schedules, responding to auditor inquiries, and addressing revenue-related matters
- Accounting for sales commissions and contract acquisition costs in accordance with ASC 606 and ASC 340-40
- Assisting with sales tax compliance related to SaaS and software revenue
- Driving automation and continuous improvement initiatives across revenue accounting and reporting
- Collaborating cross-functionally on ad hoc projects supporting finance and business operations
The ideal candidate holds a CPA designation and brings at least five years of relevant accounting experience, with significant exposure to SaaS or software revenue recognition. A strong command of US GAAP and deep hands-on expertise in ASC 606 is essential. Experience in early-stage or high-growth technology companies is highly valued, along with the ability to interpret complex contracts and apply sound judgment in ambiguous accounting scenarios.
Advanced Excel skills, comfort working across multiple accounting systems, and the ability to clearly communicate technical accounting concepts to non-finance stakeholders are critical for success. Experience with CRM platforms, Nuie.io, RightRev, sales tax, renewable energy, Big 4 firms, or early-stage technology environments is considered a strong plus.
This position is based in LevelTen Energy’s Seattle office located in the Belltown neighborhood and follows a hybrid in-office and work-from-home schedule. Employees enjoy a comprehensive benefits package including medical, vision, and dental coverage, wellness credits, flexible vacation, 11 paid company holidays, a 401(k) plan, commuter benefits, and a collaborative office environment with casual dress, standing desks, and regular company-sponsored events. The role is also eligible for an annual bonus and equity grant.
