Description:
ACAMS, the largest international membership organization dedicated to anti-financial crime (AFC) education and professional networking, is seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join their finance team. The successful candidate will primarily focus on revenue recognition and will be responsible for accurately assigning revenue recognition rules and preparing related journal entries in line with GAAP, IFRS, and ACAMS’ accounting policies. Reporting to the Senior Accounting Manager, this role also includes other accounting duties and special projects.
Responsibilities:
- Execute month-end close activities, including preparing journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Handle complex accounting entries, with a focus on revenue recognition.
- Participate in monthly financial meetings to review results and perform variance analysis.
- Provide key accounting controls, including account reconciliations, general ledger analyses, and updates to control matrices.
- Support annual external consolidated audits, preparing and submitting required schedules and analyses.
- Implement process improvements using automation and technology, including the company’s close automation tool.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts, reviewing workflows and processes for efficiency.
- Foster collaboration within the Accounting/Finance team and across departments.
- Complete additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA preferred.
- 5-7 years of accounting or finance experience; public accounting experience is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP; IFRS experience is advantageous.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP systems; NetSuite and Salesforce experience preferred.
- Familiarity with intercompany accounting is a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities, with high-quality output.
- Self-motivated, highly organized, able to multitask in a dynamic environment.
- Comfortable collaborating remotely and across time zones using tools like MS Teams.
- Able to work independently while fostering teamwork at all organizational levels.
