Responsibilities:

• Ensure patients feel comfortable before their examination
• Properly sterilize dental instruments
• Conduct initial mouth screenings and review oral health history
• Identify conditions such as gingivitis, caries, or periodontitis
• Clean and protect patients’ teeth (e.g., remove plaque, apply fluoride)
• Educate patients on oral care and demonstrate proper techniques
• Give post-treatment instructions after dental procedures
• Take X-rays or dental impressions as needed
• Assist dentists in selecting appropriate treatments for various oral conditions, including oral cancer
• Maintain accurate patient charts and documentation
• Monitor and manage dental supplies

Skills and Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Dental Hygienist or similar role
• Dental Hygienist license required (New Jersey license for this role)
• Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations (e.g., HIPAA)
• Experience preparing and maintaining dental equipment
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Patient, friendly, and professional demeanor
• Attention to detail and ability to handle physical demands of the job
• Diploma in Dental Hygiene preferred
