Due to continued growth, Lumicera is expanding its Pharmacy Services team and is currently seeking a Patient Care Assistant I. This role plays an important part in supporting specialty pharmacy programs by assisting patients, healthcare providers, pharmacists, and insurance partners throughout the medication fulfillment and care process.

Under the general guidance of the Supervisor, Pharmacy Services, the Patient Care Assistant will handle both inbound and outbound communication related to specialty pharmacy services. The position requires delivering warm, professional customer interactions while accurately collecting and documenting information necessary for prescription processing and patient support.

This role focuses heavily on phone-based communication, including answering patient inquiries, coordinating shipment requirements, and engaging with prescribers and insurance providers. The ability to gather accurate data, identify issues, and escalate calls appropriately for clinical review is essential. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail are critical to ensuring a smooth and compliant patient experience.

Work hours are scheduled Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM CST. While this is a remote position within the United States, Lumicera is unable to offer remote employment to residents of the following states: Alaska, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Dakota, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Vermont, West Virginia, and Wyoming.

Responsibilities:

  • Receive inbound calls from patients, prescribers, and healthcare professionals to support specialty pharmacy services
  • Place outbound calls to patients to confirm shipment details and complete required scripted questions
  • Use internal systems and tools to track patient therapy and refill compliance
  • Triage incoming calls and escalate to licensed healthcare staff when clinical intervention is required
  • Maintain full compliance with all federal and state regulations and uphold high ethical standards
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent GED strongly preferred
  • 1–2 years of customer service experience preferred
  • Previous experience in a pharmacy or healthcare environment is an advantage
  • Ability to follow compliance programs and regulatory requirements
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work respectfully and collaboratively with team members
