Description:
Apache Corporation is actively seeking a skilled and adaptable Control Room Operator II to join its production operations team in Midland, TX. This critical role ensures the safe and efficient operation of field assets while maintaining real-time awareness of the production environment using advanced monitoring systems. The ideal candidate will be highly responsive, analytical, and capable of handling a dynamic workload in a high-stakes energy production environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain the continuous operation of the gathering system by coordinating with multiple field departments including Instrumentation & Electrical, Mechanics, Automation, Communications, SCADA, and Pipeline teams
- Monitor and control Apache’s field assets through Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems
- Manage the logistics of natural gas and natural gas liquids delivery between Apache and third-party entities
- Generate and dispatch work orders and field service requests via phones, emails, and web platforms
- Process documentation related to environmental and regulatory compliance, hauling, and ticketing
- Serve as a liaison across field teams during emergencies, equipment failures, or when the Apache Incident Command System is activated
- Centralize and communicate all system-related information to key personnel using tools like Excel and SharePoint
- Perform additional operational tasks as assigned by leadership
Required Skills and Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in production operations such as Lease Operator, Production Technician, Control Room Operator, or Automation Technician
- Strong familiarity with production equipment, SCADA systems (especially Cygnet), and artificial lift methods
- Understanding of compression, water disposal systems, and enhanced oil recovery techniques like CO₂ or steam injection
- Proficient in Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and OneNote
- Experience using well optimization and surveillance tools such as Foresite, LOWIS, XSPOC
- Strong foundation in oilfield logistics and process automation
- Ability to manage 12-hour rotating shifts and remain seated for extended periods
