Description:
Cemex U.S., a global leader in building materials and cement solutions since 1906, is actively hiring a Buyer to support procurement operations at our New Braunfels, Texas location. This is a pivotal role within our Procurement Department, offering a career path backed by over a century of stability, robust benefits, and opportunities for advancement.
As a Buyer, you will be responsible for managing requests for proposals and quotes, executing purchase orders, ensuring timely deliveries, and maintaining vendor performance across multiple business units. You will also serve as a critical point of contact between internal departments and external vendors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and execute RFQs (Request for Quotes) and RFPs (Request for Proposals) to suppliers
- Initiate and process vendor creation requests following internal policy guidelines
- Place purchase orders for materials based on planned usage or stock replenishment needs
- Collaborate with Legal and Risk teams to review and manage contracts in alignment with company policy
- Communicate with vendors to secure on-time deliveries and manage expectations
- Monitor deliveries and ensure warehouse teams receive materials accurately and punctually
- Track purchase orders and provide regular updates to stakeholders
- Maintain accurate inventory levels and support warehouse inventory control
- Generate reports and updates for the Procurement Manager
- Ensure vendor records comply with internal policies, including payment terms and insurance documentation
- Follow CEMEX’s safety protocols and guidelines at all times while onsite
- Support other responsibilities and tasks as assigned by management
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience in purchasing or operations
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong knowledge and use of SAP software
- Proven negotiation skills and contract handling experience
- High attention to detail and ability to process large volumes of information
- Effective communicator, capable of working across departments
- High ethical standards and strong business judgment
- Solid foundation in accounting and procurement processes
Working Conditions:
- Must be comfortable working under tight deadlines and pressure
- Regularly required to speak and hear clearly in a dynamic, equipment-heavy environment
Physical Requirements:
- Occasionally required to exert up to 20 lbs. of force
- Must be able to move safely around large industrial sites and machinery
