Description:
Maxar Technologies is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Buyer to join our Procurement and Subcontracts team in Herndon, VA. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys collaborating with program managers, vendors, and internal teams, and is passionate about ensuring high-quality, compliant procurement processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all stages of the procurement lifecycle, including RFQs, receiving quotes, negotiation of prices, terms, schedules, and purchase orders/subcontracts.
  • Maintain autonomy for assigned responsibilities, ensuring compliance with company and government procurement regulations.
  • Maintain purchase orders and related files, ensuring proper documentation for procurement closeout.
  • Monitor suppliers’ operations to assess factors affecting cost, quality, reliability, and delivery schedules.
  • Recommend suppliers based on gathered data and suggest improvements to procurement processes.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to anticipate needs and deliver timely procurement solutions.
  • Support departmental goals and take on additional responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • 2 years of relevant experience in Federal Government Procurement or Subcontracting.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of FAR and DFAR regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Preferred Skills:

  • Strong communication skills across staff and vendors.
  • Structured approach to full lifecycle project management.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • Creative problem-solving skills and ability to secure stakeholder buy-in.
  • Capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Critical thinking and research skills.
  • Experience with Costpoint purchasing system.
