Position Details
Summary of Duties:
The Academic Coordinator/Advisor 1 is a centrally deployed professional who’s primary responsibility is to provide quality academic advising and coaching services to students at Washington State University (WSU); carry an academic advising load reflecting a diverse student population; participate in the delivery of ASCC services to include drop-in advising, student workshops, reinstatement activities, career expo and related events, and represent ASCC at recruitment and orientation programs. Provide information and clarification regarding university academic policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of professional work experience in student services or related education/experience. A Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of professional work experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year‐for‐year basis.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office including Access, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks effectively and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work independently.
- Ability and willingness to occasionally travel and work some evening and weekend hours.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a related field
- Previous work experience in a higher education setting
- Previous work experience in advising individual students or groups.
- Demonstrated public speaking skills/experience.
- Demonstrated experience working with individuals from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds.
- Knowledge of WSU student computer systems such as myWSU, OBIEE, Microsoft Bookings, Microsoft Teams, and Outlook.

Monthly Salary: $4,162.54 – $4,574.20 | In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.
