Purpose of the Role
Under general supervision, the Payroll Clerk will perform clerical and administrative tasks to support payroll processing, maintain accurate records, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This position ensures that employees are paid accurately and on time while supporting HR and Finance teams in payroll-related processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Process bi-weekly payroll for CDA employees, including garnishments, levies, and deductions
- Verify employee timesheets, hours worked, and leave requests, resolving discrepancies with supervisors and staff
- Prepare payroll reports including wage summaries, tax filings, and benefit deductions
- Collaborate with HR and Finance to ensure payroll changes such as promotions, pay adjustments, and benefits are accurately recorded
- Respond promptly and professionally to employee inquiries regarding payroll and deductions
- Assist with payroll audits and maintain secure payroll files and documentation
- Support annual W-2 distribution and related tax reporting
- Perform additional payroll or administrative duties as assigned
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field
- 1–3 years of experience in payroll processing and report generation
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills; ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Experience with data entry, spreadsheets, and word processing programs
- Knowledge of clerical accounting methods, forms, and techniques
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately
- Strong communication skills and professional demeanor
Physical Requirements
- Regular use of hands for computer and office equipment
- Frequent neck, waist, and shoulder movement; lifting up to 25 lbs regularly, up to 50 lbs occasionally
- Occasional standing, walking, stooping, crouching, and kneeling
- Close vision and color vision required
Work Environment & Schedule
- Full-time, Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week, typically 8:30 am to 5:00 pm
- May require occasional evening or weekend hours based on program needs
- Position may offer a hybrid schedule: up to 24 hours remote and 16 hours in-office per week after training completion (subject to business needs)
