Description:
As an Accounting Consultant at RGP, you will play a crucial role in supporting clients through various complex accounting projects. You will ensure adherence to accounting principles, practices, and procedures while guaranteeing accurate and timely financial reporting. This position is based in a high-end retail environment near Penn Station and requires 4 days onsite in New York City. The role is initially a 3-month contract with potential to convert to full-time.
- Support the month-end close process, maintain general ledger and sub-ledgers, prepare and review journal entries, reconcile balance sheet accounts, and analyze account variances
- Assist with operational accounting, reconciliation, and reporting, communicating with business partners to resolve issues promptly
- Ensure proper accounting treatment in compliance with US GAAP
- Prepare and analyze monthly and quarterly financial reports in line with client policies and procedures
- Identify and implement process improvements and system enhancements
- Review client policies and procedures to ensure SOX compliance
Education And Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; Master’s preferred
- CPA or CMA certification preferred
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in public accounting, retail, or consumer goods
- Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, month-end close, reconciliations, financial statements, and variance analysis
- Familiarity with US GAAP, ERP systems, NetSuite, and strong Excel skills; Power BI highly preferred

- Strong client service orientation and ability to work collaboratively
- Analytical mindset with attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities
Certifications and Licenses:
- CPA or CMA preferred
Working Conditions:
