Description:
Maxar Technologies is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Buyer to join our Procurement and Subcontracts team in Herndon, VA. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys collaborating with program managers, vendors, and internal teams, and is passionate about ensuring high-quality, compliant procurement processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage all stages of the procurement lifecycle, including RFQs, receiving quotes, negotiation of prices, terms, schedules, and purchase orders/subcontracts.
- Maintain autonomy for assigned responsibilities, ensuring compliance with company and government procurement regulations.
- Maintain purchase orders and related files, ensuring proper documentation for procurement closeout.
- Monitor suppliers’ operations to assess factors affecting cost, quality, reliability, and delivery schedules.
- Recommend suppliers based on gathered data and suggest improvements to procurement processes.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to anticipate needs and deliver timely procurement solutions.
- Support departmental goals and take on additional responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- 2 years of relevant experience in Federal Government Procurement or Subcontracting.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of FAR and DFAR regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Preferred Skills:
- Strong communication skills across staff and vendors.
- Structured approach to full lifecycle project management.
- Ability to prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment.
- Creative problem-solving skills and ability to secure stakeholder buy-in.
- Capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
- Critical thinking and research skills.
- Experience with Costpoint purchasing system.
