Description:
Brown & Brown is searching for a motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join their expanding team in Illinois. This role is critical in overseeing profit center accounting functions while ensuring compliance with Brown & Brown Accounting Guidelines (BBAG) or Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare journal entries, review general ledger activity, and analyze financial statements within established deadlines
• Gather and evaluate information to generate ledgers, financial reports, and monthly statements
• Complete monthly bank reconciliations, resolving discrepancies promptly
• Prepare month-end reports, reconciliations, and accrual journal entries for expenses
• Analyze general ledger account balances and recommend necessary adjustments
• Respond to inquiries from internal and external stakeholders
• Ensure the accuracy of accounting data while suggesting corrective measures
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Skills & Experience Required:

• At least 1 year of accounting or finance experience
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Outlook, and Word
• Familiarity with industry-specific software (a plus)
• Previous insurance industry background preferred
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and interpersonal abilities
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
