Description:
Equip is seeking a dedicated Financial Counselor to support patients and their families in navigating insurance coverage, billing, and payment plans. This role acts as the primary point of contact for patient financial responsibilities, ensuring seamless communication between patients, care teams, and insurance providers. Financial Counselors also assist in resolving billing issues to prevent financial barriers to ongoing treatment, contributing to an outstanding patient experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to patient billing inquiries within 24 hours
- Assist patients in understanding their insurance benefits and coverage
- Set up and track payment plans for patients
- Achieve weekly, monthly, and quarterly department goals
- Represent Equip professionally and maintain a positive attitude
- Adhere to all HIPAA and Privacy Act regulations
- Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in financial counseling, medical billing, or insurance verification
- Strong billing knowledge and expertise
- Understanding of HIPAA policies and procedures
- Comfort with digital technology and cloud-based software platforms (Slack, G-suite, Zoom, EMR, billing systems)
